Regal Gardens commenced business at 249 Annangrove Road Annangrove as a Retail
nursery & Landscape Supplies outlet in l995.
The nine acres which houses the complex was originally developed in the
l930's and after numerous owners was used as a poultry farm from l958 to 1990 and in its hey day housed up to 12,000
breeding fowls and operated 24 hrs a day 7 days a week.
Regals' Rendezvous Cafe
which opened 14th February l998 was built around the original homestead. Sydney Sandstone was used to renovate
the building and the kitchen and back verandahs have been added on. The owners have kept the design of the cafe
in keeping with the original Australian homestead cottage already on the property.
The gardens to the west side of the cafe originally housed two artificial
grottos
with seating (demolished) built by previous owners and the remains of the garden
beds around the grottos have been incorporated into the present landscape and the
inscription on the sandstone sundial reads "For the Glory of God alone".
To the east of the cafe the original chicken shed has been converted and renovated
into a retail nursery.
There is an original dam on the property which has been enlarged and supports wildlife and also supplies irrigation
to the nursery. The waste system is environmentally friendly and recycles into the gardens. No expense has been
spared in building this complex in
accordance with Councils & EPA requirements.
The complex is open 7 days a week.
Regal Landscapes first commenced operations in l971. In l992 they moved to the present nine (9) acre site at 249
Annangrove Road Annangrove and work commenced at Regal Gardens to establish the Garden Centre as it has become
today. In l995 the Landscape Supplies division became retail and in February, l998 Regals' Rendezvous Café
and in September l998 the Retail Nursery divisions were opened.
The purpose of Regal Gardens was to create a leisure centre where people could come relax and browse in the tranquility
of landscaped gardens whilst providing a service second to none. Regal Gardens has all the components to create
such an atmosphere with the landscaped gardens and ponds, childrens playground, the bird aviaries, ducks and geese
swimming on the dam and peacocks and their babies strutting their stuff amongst our patrons. Regal Gardens has
also made provisions for the disabled with restrooms and ramps.
Future developments at Regal Gardens will include the completion of Stage 3 which incorporates a two-storey sandstone
building to be constructed at the eastern of the retail nursery and which will be utilised as a retail and sales
centre and will also house the offices for the Construction staff.
